Drawing the ancient romans
I’ve been drawing roman statues and busts in the “Römisch Germanisches Museum” in Cologne with Peter Böhme, Michael Filipowski, Oswin Skomroch and a few other very nice people last weekend. My highlight has been a woman who appeared to be a grandmother. She told her grandson “See, this is a statue of a roman soldier. The Romans were very violent, that is why he’s lost his head!” Yeah, right. All those lost arms and heads are very true depictions of Roman culture
